PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS: A TIMELESS APPROACH IN A MODERN MARKET.
If
your an old pro or a new beginner you'll enjoy spending a day with
David following the steps he's taken to build a wedding photography business in the
twentyfirst century
I began photographing weddings in 1987. At that time I was a
student at Ball State University studying
the Fine Art of photography. After graduating with a Bachelor of
Fine Arts I went to work in the Fashion industry.
I spent several years working in Chicago creating portfolios. In
1992 I left the big city and worked under Master Photographer Julie
Gutwein for over seven years. During this time I was a member of
MPP, Inc. In 1994 I received the Presidents award, the Burrell
Achievenment Award, The William Lattimer Award and I was the first
recipient of the Dorth and Shorty Award that year in Print
Competition. Over the next several years I won three Court of
Gold Awards, another Burrell Achievement Award, two Silver Awards and
The Presidents Award of Apprecitaion from Joyce Brown for my service as
Hospitality Chairman, for four conventions. In 1999 I received my
Photographic Fellowship Degree from MPP. That year I moved to
Corpus Cristi Texas where I worked for the Roosevelt/Baker Photo
Co. In 2001 I returned to Illinois and opened my own Studio in
Sidney. Sidney is located about thirty minutes from
Champaign/Urbana.
I am a Certified Member of the Professional Photographers of
America and my work has been ehibited around the country including
Disney Worlds' Epcot Center and the Kodak Gallery.
